ὑπερβολή - "hyperbole"
The substantive form the verb ὑπερβάλλω “I throw beyond, overshoot”, from ὑπέρ “above, over” + βάλλω “I throw.”
Hence ὑπερβολή “hyperbole” is taking your point and “throwing it above, beyond, or over” reality, i.e. “overshooting” it in order to emphasize its importance. A very humorous example of hyperbole is Matthew 7.3-5!
